It's Birthday Sundaes Challenge Day!

Today's challenge is to create a Masculine Birthday Card (and don't forget some sort of birthday greeting/wording on your card front!)

My Swatch Book

I have been playing with paper today, lots and lots of paper!

One of the things on my list of projects was a swatch ring to put samples of all my PTI and SU cardstock on since I don't know the names and it would be nice to play along with some color challenges and know what to use lol.  This is also leading to organizing all of this cardstock as where it was before wasn't as accessible.  I got some more 3 drawer units to put this cardstock in and hope to be able to use it more now that I can get at it.

Instead of a swatch ring, I decided to end up making a swatch book as I wanted to protect the samples so they don't get ruined.  I cut up some heavier cardboard for the covers and am using cereal boxes for the inside. Yay for finally using stuff I've been saving up!

Here is what I've done so far - the book cover and the PTI samples.

Next up I need to make the SU sample pages - I think that will take me even longer than these pages did since I have sample packs of all 4 color collections, the in colors and a bunch of the older colors.  It will be so nice when it's all done!

The paper I used for the cover is the DCWV Garden Party. Of course I had to use pink & brown to match my scraproom. The butterfly die is from PTI.

My first digital scrapbook pages!

My friend Marilyn switched to digital scrapbooking a few months ago and highly recommended the My Memories Suite software to me as I've been wanting to dabble in digi scrapping for awhile.  I finally have a computer that can handle the software so I bought it a few weeks ago and started to play around with it last night.

Here is what I made using the Home Cooked kit:

I really had fun creating these pages and the software was quite easy to figure out after a few pointers from the awesome MMS girls on their MMS facebook page.  While digi scrapping will never replace paper scrapping for me, it is nice to try something else out and it frees me from having to print every single picture that I take or receive. These are pictures of my young nieces from their older sister's facebook page.

PaperCutz Challenge #93 & LOAD Update

To those that were following my LOAD adventure, I still haven't posted Day 22's page and after that I had to stop due to the darn headaches. I'm so sad that I couldn't finish out the month when I was doing so well.  Thanks to everyone that was checking out my pages. I so appreciate all the nice comments that were left on my posts.

Today has been a headache free day, yay!  Both my mom and I were off work today so we spent some quality time together which was nice.

I had fun putting this card together to share with you all.

Hopefully it still looks like a CAS card...I couldn't stay away from the patterned paper LOL!  I used my Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe for the first time along with some trim that I got when I went to Hobby Lobby on Saturday.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment is from the Verve Kind Wishes stamp set.

I used this week's FTL sketch.

May LOAD - Day 21

Here is last night's page. I so love how it came out!

I've had these pictures pulled out to scrap for a week or so. I came across Sketch #6 that I saved from Artful Delight for their 14 Days of Sketches and I stopped hoarding my May kit long enough to scrap these pics.  I really love the bright colors & fun patterns from the Echo Park Summer Days collection. 

 I love scrapping pictures of my nieces! They are such fun and cute subjects :)

May LOAD Days 17-20

I've been scrapping so late every night that I haven't had time to type up the blog posts for these! Less than 2 weeks to go now, I'm so happy that I've made it this far!

This is Day 17...used one of the sketches from the 28 Sketches Class.

Paper from a K&Co paper pad and embellishments all from my stash!

This picture is from when Mike and I were dating a few years ago. :)

This is Day 18...some pictures from a fall drive in CT. I have no idea where we were. I need to show Mike because he will remember!  Paper is from a DCWV stack, it was perfect since it already had a title on it. I added some Cosmo Cricket stickers for the date and a few Basic Grey Pyrus embellishments. 

This is Day 19...pictures from the 2008 Big E. Love seeing the different butter sculptures when I go. The title is the name of the sculpture. Thank goodness for Google!  I didn't know what to title the page and Google came to the rescue. I was also able to find the artist's name which was nice to add. 

This is Day 20. I used SBSC283 for the layout, it worked out great for my pictures! I had them sitting out on my desk all week and didn't know what to do with them. As soon as I saw the sketch on Friday, everything came together! I love when that happens! More paper and embellies from my stash!

I'll be back with Day 21 shortly. It's for a challenge so I want to post it separately or else it would get lost here!

Pearls & Lace for Birthday Sundaes!

Good morning!

It's time for another Birthday Sundaes challenge! We'd like to see you create a birthday card using Pearls & Lace. I went with a scrappy approach on my card and I like how it came out!   

I came across a package of Basic Grey Origins tags and I found my Staz On ink to stamp the sentiment. That was my first time stamping on canvas, it was fun to add to the tag a bit.  I found this lace in my stash, haven't a clue where it came from!  I wasn't sure what I was going to do with this challenge as I had some lace but um...seemed to have lost it lol.  Don't worry though, I was in New York yesterday meeting a friend (fellow DT member Sue!) and we went shopping at Hobby Lobby where all ribbons & trims were 50% off so now I'm all set with lace in quite a few colors!

Teacher Appreciation for PaperCutz #92!

Wanna know something about this paper? It looks like it could be for school right? It's actually Beach Bum by Fancy Pants! I know I have some school paper from stacks but I couldn't find it so I started looking through my piles of 6x6 pads and found this one. Worked out perfectly! I used Labels 12 to cut out the image and panel beneath her. Bling and ribbon from my stash finished off the card nicely.

Flutter By Wednesday #155 with Copic Creations Challenge #50!

Hello my fluttering friends! It's the middle of the week already, yay!

Today's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is to use the following sketch by Carly from Sketches by Carly and/or an open challenge. Of course you must have your butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation!

I haven't inked up a fairy in awhile so I decided to use a Paper Makeup Stamps fairy since PMS is sponsoring the Copic Creations Challenge of using Yellows.  I inked up Marissa for the very first time, isn't she sweet? :)  I was inspired by Danni's card yesterday using the Echo Park Springtime paper so I cut into my pad for the first time as well.

Shopping Our Stash - Show Your Stash!

I am so excited to have been named a Guest Designer for Shopping Our Stash for next month!

To kick things off Shopping Our Stash wants everyone to show their stash...I saw this and said EEEK! LOL! My room is a big mess...I've been in it for about a year and a half now but have never fully unpacked and I keep adding to the stash. I also have stuff in boxes in our spare bedroom and at my mother's. 

 Let's go for a tour, shall we:

I love this Welcome sign! I found it in the Joann's Valentine's clearance stuff a few months ago. 

 Here is another angle of the little nook when you first step into the room.  I have my ribbons sorted by colors into jars from IKEA. Same with the flowers.  The bins hold buttons, adhesives, and stamps.  The rest if cheap cardstock and miscellaneous paper. 

 I had to have a shot of the windows. My mom made me these curtains last year.  This year I added the flower garland.  The mess on the floor is stuff I've started to sort through several times and then I find better things to do lol!

 This is the back of the room. You can see a better shot of the countertop HERE. The bins have swap stuff, stickers and miscellaneous scrapbook supplies sorted by season & theme. The piles on the floor are paper (shocker!) and I have containers of scrapping projects all lined up. 

 This wall is almost all stamps!

 One of my favorite parts of the room. The bins are all stamps sorted by companies and the bottom row has card kits, name brand cardstock (PTI & SU) and the bottom bin is full of 6x6 pads. I love butterflies and I have some special ones here. The clipboard was made for me by a friend on a card group and the pins on there were my grandmother's.  The butterfly cupcake is from Pier 1 as is the frame on the wall. 

A shot of my desk and the other side of the room.  The cards are displayed on picture hangers from IKEA. The first tower is all miscellaneous supplies.  Then 12x12 cardstock in the 2nd tower and 8.5x11 cardstock in the last set of towers. Tucked behind the basket of Nestabilities are more 6x6 pads lol. The closet is a work in progress...LOTS more paper on the shelves and stacks on the floor!

May LOAD - Day 16

I made a quick page last night using yesterday's sketch for the 28 Sketches class. I think it took me longer to decide what pics to scrap than to make the actual layout. Sorry for the poor lighting but it was late when I took the picture and getting a good pic is not easy!

Happy Birthday Lilly

Happy Monday!

This is the last of the cards I'm sharing from my weekend crafting session.  Instead of copics, I colored this image with my prismacolor pencils and gamsol. This is the 2nd time I have tried it and I like the results better this time. I am going to keep practicing as I have tons of images stamped & printed on Georgia Pacific paper and I cannot use them to practice my copic coloring.  I certainly don't want all my cute images going to waste!

The image on this card is Lilly from Softpencil Digital Images. Isn't she sweet? :)

I used TECC64 for the layout and the image was cut out with Nestabilities Labels Eleven. The sentiment is from Hero Arts Birthday Messages. I used My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Mabel designer paper, it's so very pretty!

May LOAD - Day 15

Last post for today!

Here is Day 15's page...kept it simple since it's so late.  I kept getting distracted watching the baseball game - A big woohoo for the Red Sox sweeping the Yankees!!!

I used the 14th sketch from Artful Delight's 14 Days of Sketches for this page. 

This is my friend's cute cat, Eli, hiding by a plant.  I thought the Scrabble tile letters were fun to use for the title. Everything is from the Basic Grey Max & Whiskers collection except for the lettering.

Write Soon Cocoa

This is a bit of a different card for me - color wise. I brought a bunch of newer 6x6 pads with me yesterday and one of them was Echo Park's For the Record. I thought it would be fun to use this text paper with Write Soon Cocoa from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. I have tons of Cocoas printed out and was happy to finally get one on a card!

I used TECC48 for the layout and a Hero Arts sentiment. 

I am entering this card into Crafty Creations #118 - Anything Goes.

Now I am off to create my layout for Day 15 while I'm watching the Red Sox/Yankees game. Go SOX!!!

Stamping Anya

It's Stamping Anya! I've stamped her a bunch of times but don't recall ever putting her on a card LOL! I thought I'd have a bit of fun with her and use the Bo Bunny Ad Lib paper again. 

The layout is TECC42 and I'm entering her into Creative Card Crew's May Flowers challenge.

Tatiana Ketto

Sorry for all the posts, but if I don't get them linked up to the challenges now I will forget LOL! 

This is Tatiana Ketto from Stamping Bella, another image from the piles. I'm not sure where she came from, I had a bit of difficulty coloring her as the paper was probably not great for Copics but she's colored and on a card, so yay! I do love how her hair looks...I discovered a few images after this one that my E00 was running dry so that may have been part of the problem when I colored her. 

I used TECC61 for the layout and some funky new paper from Bo Bunny called AdLib. The brad and flowers are from my stash!

I am entering this in Everybody's Art challenge #141 - Flowers!

Tilda Picking Peaches

This is the first card I made yesterday. The image is Tilda Picking Peaches from Magnolia Stamps. She was in one of my many image piles.  It's time to start using them up!

I spent a long time coloring her and am very pleased with how she came out!  I found that I'm still not great at hair but I will keep practicing!

I used a very old sketch from Taylored Expressions, TECC66. I had the sketchbook with me yesterday and made most of my cards with those sketches.  The paper is from the My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Mabel 6x6 pad and the bling is from my stash!

I am entering this into Stamp Something's Anything Goes challenge. They are also celebrating their 3rd birthday, check out all the deets here!

LOAD Days 12-14

I've still been keeping up with the May LOAD challenge - woohoo me!  With Blogger down I wasn't able to post Thursday's page and then I busy, busy with no time for posting until today!

This is Day 12's page. I was inspired by The Paper Variety's movie inspiration challenge for this layout. I originally planned to scrap some stars from the Hollywood Walk of Fame but then I came across this picture of me & Woody from The Big E and I thought it was perfect :)  I used last week's Sketchy Thursday layout.

I used some old DCWV patterned paper and some even older cardstock lol. The title is Thickers. 

Here is Day 13's page.  Again lots of old stash used up!  The photo is of my friend's pets. I helped her take her Christmas card picture that year (2007). This is one of the outtakes :) 

This page is from Day 14.  Another page full of old stash, even a swap item! I have tons of those to use up.  The photo is of the doggies in the above picture. I came across this picture the other day and was surprised to pull the page together so quickly yesterday morning. Having some of my paper organized by theme is making scrapping really easy and now I am motivated to finally get the paper closet finished! I hope to have some time next weekend to work on it.

Birthday Sundaes #9 - Circles!

Good morning! I hope you are having a nice weekend.  I spent yesterday crafting with friends and made 5 cards using mostly my Copics and played a bit with the prisma pencils and gamsol. I had to make an emergency run to the LSS for a copic refill - my poor people started looking awfully pale as one of my markers ran dry. Good thing they were open late! I also did a little shopping, he he he.  Copics were on sale and they had lots of new 6x6 paper pads, including new Basic Grey! Woohoo!

My Project for FBW #154

It's done! A few minor mishaps along the way but I'm finally finished and so happy to share it with you all. 

Over the weekend I finally settled on making My Time Made Easy's Slip Cover. I thought it would be fun to use it to carry images with me to crops seeing as this is how I was carrying them.

Now the ones I want to bring with me will travel in style!

And here's how it looks all filled up!

I used Papertrey Ink cardstock in Aqua Mist. The stamps are from the Poppies set by There She Goes (first time inked!) and the ribbon, flower & bling are from my stash. I used R30, R32, R35 for some of the flowers & butterflies and for the rest of them I used R20, R22, R24 and the stems are YG13 & YG17. I added some stickles to the flowers & butterflies because it needs a little something extra. I didn't want to wait until it was dry to share though lol.

May LOAD - Day 11 & 28 Sketches - Day 7

I'm a much happier scrapper tonight, yay! I had a dentist appointment after work yesterday and was not in the best of moods so when I put my page together last night I really struggled. Does anyone else dislike going to the dentist as much as I do? lol, even in my 30's I still get all kinds of anxiety beforehand...and the inevitable pain afterwards (even for a cleaning!)

Back to my LOAD page...can you guess what today's prompt was? If you guessed Black & White, you'd be right! I've had this picture of my niece sitting on my desk for almost a week and wasn't sure what to do with it.  When I saw the prompts for LOAD and the sketch for 28 Classes, I knew they would be perfect!  It's a simple page but I think it lets the photo shine.

Day 9 for LOAD & May with May

Today's page cover LOAD Day 9 and May with May Day 9. I found this sweet picture of my niece last night and kept it out to work with this week. I let the background paper do the work for me and kept the layout simple. 

The paper is from some old DCWV stack and I used my CM heart punch for the corner accents.

May LOAD - Day 8

Whew...I made it. I have such a headache tonight that I was ready to throw in the towel. I'm glad I didn't as the page I made is super cute (and I am determined not to fail this challenge!)

This is a picture that I snagged from my sister's computer awhile ago. I thumbed through a bunch of different pics tonight and picked this one when I found a sketch that would work. As I was contemplating paper choices, I remembered that my Artful Delight kit came yesterday and it was perfect for what I had in mind as this new week for LOAD focuses on color. The sketch is #8 from the 14 days of sketches at Artful Delight.

Everything is from the Echo Park Summer Days collection and is all from the kit except for the Thickers. The bright fun colors make me happy :) and I can't wait to use it again!

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #8

This week we have a recipe challenge for you at Birthday Sundaes! We'd like you to create a birthday card using 3 different embellishments & 2 patterned papers.

I started off using THIS SKETCH from Sweet Sunday Sketch but I took a wrong turn somewhere and had to make some changes lol. Lesson for today is to measure all the pieces first instead of gluing down each piece as you go!

May LOAD - Day 7 and another challenge

This is my 4th page for today and possibly my last so I am going to enter it for my Day 7 of LOAD.  I'd hate to get distracted and not make another page by the deadline tonight!

I started this layout using the 2nd NSD challenge from the Scrapfriendly Yahoo Group.  The challenge is to use newer photos, papers & tools.  I used adorable pics of my niece Emily, some MME Stella & Rose Hazel papers, and used my Cricut (and Gypsy)!! The yummy was cut from the Simply Charmed cartridge - first time using it! The cake was cut from the Sweet Treats cartridge (my 2nd time using this - I originally bought it to cut some flags that I used on my wedding bookmark favors)

These photos were taken in October 2004 about 5 months after I started scrapbooking. 

Yes, I'm still scrapping this trip.  To be fair I've put this project aside for a number of years for a number of reasons. A challenge is a challenge though and I knew these pics would be perfect.  It took longer than I thought to pick out the pics because when I was going through them - oh wow, I saved some horrid pics! Blurry, out of focus, dark - you name it. Those all went bye bye and now the pile is a lot more manageable!

I am so thankful I switched to a good digital camera after this trip. I've saved myself lots of $ in bad film pictures LOL! I also took the time to look through the pages I have done and this new page is done in similar fashion (well of course it is since I'm using ancient supplies!)  

The other challenge is for the May with May class - Day 3 was to make photo corners. So I took my old tools - decorative scissors if you couldn't tell (lol!) and used them on the photo corners. When I was looking through the album I saw that I used the deco scissors a lot then, I was surprised! I was creative with less supplies (who knew!)

In 7 years of papercrafting I have come a long ways in terms of style and supplies but I have realized that I still enjoy using the 'old' stuff which is good since I have lots!

Off to create some more!
