Flutter By Wednesday #160

I can't believe we are at 160 FBW challenges!

Today's challenge is an open one - just remember to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation. This week we are sponsored by Through the Craftroom Door - click HERE to enter your project and to check out the prize details!

Here is my creation ~ a layout of my niece. Pictures are from my bridal shower last August. While I was opening gifts, she decided to go play in my friend's dog's toy bin and I had my sister snap a few pics.

The layout is based on an old Sassy Lil Sketches layout, I had it printed in my crop file and didn't write the date of the sketch on it. The paper is from the My Mind's Eye So Sophie line. I had fun mixing and matching the patterns that were included in the collection. The flowers and butterfly are from Prima.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #6

It's time for me to share my last Guest Design Team post for Shopping Our Stash. I have so enjoyed being a part of the team this month!

Here is today's challenge: Use only scraps for your project - (card base or similiar "base" ok to use new) but use some of the scraps- paper, ribbons, the odd sinlge embellishment, etc OR recycle something- redo a former card, use something that was intended for a different purpose- ribbon from a package, coffee cup sleeve, corrugated paper, button from a shirt, etc.

Please click HERE to enter your creation and check out the rest of the DT's samples!

The card base is new and everything else are scraps from a recent layout which I will share soon. I still need to take pictures of the 8 that I did on Saturday.  This was a very different card for me since I limited myself to the scraps and no card sketch.  I like how the ribbon looks on here and think I will try it with a Christmas card.

Supplies~
Paper: Bo Bunny Tutu Double Dot cardstock, Bazzill cardstock, Wild Asparagus dp
Other: prima flowers, pearls, zig writer, ribbon was from a page kit, CM circle punch

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #15

Happy Sunday!

Usually I schedule my posts but this time you are getting me live.  I got home a little while ago from a fantastic all day crop at the LSS. I met up with a great bunch of ladies from a yahoo group that I belong too.  I got 8 pages and 1 card done (that you will see on Tuesday!)  And I shopped for lots of new pretties - reinkers to attempt distress coloring on my images, Bo Bunny's Barefoot & Bliss Collection and Echo Park Paper's Country Drive Collection. Hoping to get in some playing time while I am on vacation this week!

Anywho, the reason for this post is it's time for another Birthday Sundaes Challenge! We'd like to see your birthday cards with Stars AND Stripes on them, as well as a birthday greeting/ sentiment/wording on your card front.  Click HERE to enter your creations and to see the rest of the Design Team's take on this challenge.

I was inspired by this sketch from Eat, Sleep, Stamp for my card.

I decided to use 3 stars instead of one since there are so many cool patterned stars in the Papertrey Ink's Star Prints stamp set.  The sentiment is from a Verve stamp set.

I think looks like it would be a fun card for a teen girl, still girly but not too cutesy.

Supply List~
Stamps: Star Prints by Papertrey Ink, sentiment from a Verve stamp set
Paper: PTI Raspberry Fizz, misc. orange cardstock, DCWV scraps
Ink: Memento (note - let the images dry before cutting them out lol!)
Other: Recollections star bling, mini pop dots

A Color Challenge for PaperCutz!

TGIF!!

Today's challenge at PaperCutz is a fun one!  We'd like to see a card, layout or project using the colors Pink, Orange, and White ONLY, a small amount of black may be used. Click HERE to join in the fun and to check out the rest of the team's samples!

It took me forever to pick paper to use for this card LOL!  I finally decided to use KI Memories Paisley Parade when I found THIS sketch over at The Sweet Stop Sketches.

And here is my take! I used my Verve Blue Skies stamp set for the first time.  I love how everything just pops on this card - the quote panel & butterfly with pop dots and the layers pop with the black.

Supply List-
Stamps: Blue Skies by Verve Stamps
Paper: KI Memories Paisley Parade, CTMH black cardstock
Ink: Memento
Other: Smooch (on the butterfly), Stampin Up Ticket Punch, Basic Grey Bling It rhinestones, pop dots

Have a Dandy Day!

My mojo strikes at the wrong times sometimes, does that happen to you? I should be in bed now but I was inspired to make a few cards tonight.

This card using the Kirsten Fairy Silhouette by Paper Makeup Stamps was inspired by a card that I saw on Jami Bova's blog on Monday.  She printed the silhouette on designer paper and I love how it looked so I decided to use my stamp and give it a whirl. I love the scene that I created :)

I wasn't sure that I would add a sentiment but then I saw the 'have a dandy day' in the Little Moments stamp set. Just perfect!

Supply List:
Stamps: Kirsten Fairy Silhouette & Little Moments by Paper Makeup Stamps
Paper: My Mind's Eye Lime Twist - Fly a Kite
Ink: Colorbox Black
Other: grass decorative scissors, misc. button, crinkled ribbon from My Craft Spot

Watermelon Cocoa

It's summer and one of the many things that scream summer to me is watermelon.

So...I whipped up this simple card tonight to celebrate summer's arrival.

I was inspired by THIS sketch while creating my card.  I wanted to show off my some new purchases. I was in the neighborhood of my LSS last week so I stopped in and picked up some of Little Yellow Bicycle's Sweet Summertime paper and I also got the coordinating cardstock stickers.  The adorable image is digital Watermelon Cocoa from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps. I've had him printed out forever and he was perfect to use with this paper!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Supply List
Stamps: Watermelon Cocoa - Sweet 'N Sassy Digi Stamps
Paper: Georgia Pacific, Little Yellow Bicycle Sweet Summertime
Copics: R11, R20, R24, R27, R29, G20, YG63, YG67, T1, T3
Other: Marvy Giga Scalloped Circle Punch, Basic Grey Wander brads, Little Yellow Bicycle cardstock stickers

Tools of the Trade with Shopping Our Stash!

Good morning!

I'm here to share another Guest Designer post for the Shopping Our Stash Challenge!

For Challenge #5, let's use some of those tools we *had* to have but don't use often-could be your eyelet setter, circle cutter, decorative scissors, fastenator, tiny attacher, cropodile or maybe you have an embossing folder that has not yet been used, nestabilities that haven't been opened, or even your paper piercer can be called into use on your project! Use a tool that is rather neglected!

Well this proved to be a bit of a challenge for me LOL! So many tools, so little time...

I settled on using a stencil that has been in the package unused, a nestabilities set that hasn't seen much love and my poor Cropadile that has been collecting dust.

To create this card, I put my card base in a box and laid my Crafters Workshop Flurries template over it and sprayed the middle with Spring Violet Glimmer Mist and then sprayed the other two sections with Frost Glimmer Mist.  I removed the template and let the card dry, then sprayed the entire card with Glacier Glimmer Mist.  This was my first experience with Glimmer Mist and the first attempt didn't go well.  I used the Georgia Pacific cardstock and sprayed way too closely.  This is my second attempt with Papertrey Ink cardstock and sprayed a bit further away with a much better result. {click on the picture to see the shimmer even better}

I cut the sentiment panel with my Small Deckled Mega Rectangles and  then I stamped a sentiment from the Hero Arts Holiday Sayings set and inked the edges with Memento Paris Dusk.  I added the snowman eyelet using my Cropadile...the first attempt with that didn't go well either since I lost the directions and the poor snowman got stuck LOL.  I managed to save him.

What tools have you neglected lately?  Why not join us at Shopping Our Stash and show them off!

I am also linking this to Crafts & Me Challenge #39 - Bling it On.

For the Birthday Girl - Birthday Sundaes #14

Happy Sunday!

Today's Birthday Sundaes Challenge is a super fun one AND it's sponsored!!

You can have a chance at winning the 'Just Because' Cards Cricut cartridge from our DT Member Michelle if you play along with us this week! Click HERE to play along and check out all of the cute DT samples!

This is my first attempt at a shaped card - granted the Cricut makes it easy but I was still leery of putting it together lol! I goofed just a teensy bit on the layering but I think I did a good job still. I had SOOO much fun using the Cuttlebug too!

The ice cream cone and layers were cut from the Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge. There are so many fun cuts on this cartridge that I still need to try out!

Supply List
  • Papertrey Ink cardstock - Dark Chocolate, Berry Sorbet
  • Fancy Pant - It's the Little Things designer paper
  • Birthday Bash Verve stamp set for the sentiment
  • Timber Brown Staz On ink
  • D'vine Swirl Cuttlebug folder
  • Sizzix 'plaid' embossing folder (I am not sure of it's real name!)
  • Cricut Sweet Treats cartridge - I don't remember what size I cut the cone at. It's saved on my Gypsy if anyone is interested in knowing. Just leave me a comment!

Father's Day with PaperCutz!

TGIF!!

I'm finally back to creating YAY!  My legs are doing a bit better, not completely healed but much better than they were.

Today's PaperCutz Challenge is to make a card, layout or project for Father's Day using a tag or tags and any colors you'd like.  Click HERE to enter your creation and be inspired by all the wonderful DT samples.
Seeing as I bought my stepdad a card (for shame lol, but I didn't know if I would be up for cardmaking), I wasn't sure what to make and then I saw my friend Sue's card and was inspired to make a card for Mike from our dog Amber.

I used my Taylored Expressions project pantry kit to make this card.  The papers and stickers are from the Basic Grey Max & Whiskers collection. I had to add the rhinestones to make the dog look girly lol.

And since I used a dark card base I decided to decorate the inside a bit.

I am sure Mike will love the card from his little girl :)  Aren't they adorable together? This was taken on Sunday at my husband's birthday picnic.

Thanks for looking! Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Flutter By Wednesdays #159

Happy Flutter By Day!

Today's Flutter By Wednesdays challenge is to use the colors pink, orange & green along with a butterfly, fairy or angel.  Click HERE to enter your creation!

I have taken this week off as I had a mishap with my dog's leash on Friday night and have been dealing with painful burns on the backs of both of my legs. They are healing and I should hopefully be able to sit more comfortably in my room in the next few days.

I am sure my DT sisters rocked the challenge so check out their blogs - links are on the left sidebar!

Have a great day!

Happy, Happy Birthday with Birthday Sundaes!

Good morning!

Today's Birthday Sundaes Challenge is to use Embossing - Wet or Dry on your birthday card (don't forget birthday wording/greeting!). I happen to like dry embossing much better than heat embossing lol...less mess and frustration.  At the moment I can't even heat emboss if I wanted to as I never unpacked the gun and it's in one of the many unpacked boxes I still have LOL!

Of course I had to use my Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder, it's one of my favorites and I'm finally remembering to use it more often! I also used up some scraps from the FBW card I posted on Wednesday.  This was a quick and easy card!

I used the new FTL layout, love this site!

Supplies Used:
Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White cardstock
My Mind's Eye Stella & Rose Gertie paper & brad
Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder
Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder
Memento ink

Relax...

it's Friday, YAY!!! Double YAY because I have the day off!

We are having a BBQ here on Sunday for my husband's birthday (which is next week) and I took the day off so I can clean the house that way on Saturday we can get all of our party errands done.

Today is PaperCutz's 95th Challenge! Mary challenged us to Anything Goes...with a TWIST! You must use pink, black and white ONLY along with any theme on your card, layout or project. If you'd like to play along, please click HERE

My take on the challenge~

I think it took me longer to tie this bow than it did to make the rest of the card LOL! I knew I had to use one of my newer PMS stamps for this challenge. The Kirsten Silhouette is perfect for this type of color challenge. She didn't stamp as clear/dark as I would have hoped...I think I need to practice more or maybe put something underneath the paper before I stamp next time.  I thought the Relax sentiment from the Freckled Lemonade set was perfect for Kirsten. The paper is Papertrey Ink Raspeberry Fizz and Stampers Select White.  The ribbon is also from PTI. The finished card measures 4"x4".

Have a great day and thank you for visiting!

Let's Do the Polka for Flutter By Wednesday!

I know, I know - goofy blog post title LOL!

I am excited for today's Flutter By Wednesdays Challenge which is to go DOTTY! Use POLKA DOTS in your creation along with a butterfly, fairy or angel! Click HERE to enter your creation!

I..um...may have gone just a teensy bit overboard with the polka dots lol!

How cute is this image?! It's Caliope with a Flower from Paper Makeup Stamps - Caliope is one of my favorite non-fairies :) I tried something new around the image with the blue shadow...not sure I love it, but it does add a bit 'more' to the card I think.

I used last week's SCS sketch for the layout - it worked out perfectly since I wanted to include a few patterned papers!

Supply List~
Stamps: Caliope with a Flower by Paper Makeup Stamps
Paper: Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White, My Minds Eye Stella and Rose Gertie
Ink: Memento
Copics: Caliope (R24, R27, R29, R01, R11, R20), flower (Y35, Y38), grass (YG95, YG97, G20), shadow (BG01)
Other: Martha Stewart butterfly punch, diamond glaze (works great to adhere the butterflies!), Polka Dots Cuttlebug folder

Thank you for fluttering by today!

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #3

Good morning!

I'm so excited to share my Guest Designer project for Shopping Our Stash with you!

The challenge for this week is: UFO Sightings from Area 51 (better known as Unfinished Objects in your craft room).  I'm sure at least one or two of you can find something you started and never finished right?  I know I have several...I loved them unfinished so much that I even moved them that way when I moved 2 years ago and they were at least a year old at that point!

Here is what I chose to finish up for this challenge:

I am not quite sure what I originally intended for these pieces...I think I was working with a sketch from the old SCS Bella forum for these fun witches from Stamping Bella named Witchybella. I improvised and came up with these...

It was fun to mix newer products into these old pieces. I embossed the black background with a Tim Holtz Alterations folder. I used copics to color in the images and put Smooch on the tights/shoes. The tombstone brads are from my stash as well. I am now way ahead for Halloween, wow! LOL!

I sure hope you will join us with your UFO projects this week at Shopping Our Stash! You can see lots of wonderful samples on the SOS blog.

A Bugaboo Birthday Sundaes!

Good morning!

Today's Birthday Sundaes Challenge is our popular Anything Goes Birthday Card Challenge - just remember to include birthday wording/greeting on your card front!

We are being sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and the winner will receive 7 free digis of their choice, how cool is that?! Jodie, the owner, generously provided our team with images to use. Check out the Birthday Sundaes blog to enter your card and to see all the neat samples from the team!

Here is my card using Stella Birthday - Eat More Cake ~

I was inspired by several entries last week using the Happy Birthday Cuttlebug folder so I just had to pull mine out and use it!  The designer paper is from one of the My Mind Eye's Stella Rose pads.  I cut Stella out with Nestabilities and colored her in with copics.  This was my first attempt at grey hair, I kinda like it!  I add Diamond Glaze to part of the balloon and ice cream. Pearls from my stash are around the oval.

Have a great day and we hope to see your entry this week at Birthday Sundaes!

Beach or Travel for PaperCutz #94!

Happy Friday!!!

This 4 day week went by FAST! Any fun plans for the weekend?  We plan to work cleaning up our yard more and I hope to get some more crafting done!

Today's PaperCutz Challenge is to create a card, layout or project with a beach or travel theme using any colors you'd like! I have had this stamp for AGES!  I can't recall EVER using it!! Seriously! I know my sister used it for a swap many, many years ago but I really don't think I ever made anything using it!  If you would like to play along with us at PaperCutz this week, please click HERE!

{Don't get blinded by the Smooch! LOL!}

Very simple and flat, easy for mailing! The paper is from a Making Memories Travel pad that I picked up quite some time ago at Big Lots.  I've had this stuff set aside to make a scrapbook for the postage stamps I've saved over the years. I used to collect them when I was a kid and started again when I started swapping cards with people all over the world.

I am also entering this card into Shopping Our Stash #2 - Oldies But Goodies Challenge. My Guest Designer position starts with their next challenge on Tuesday! Can't wait to share what I've made for it!

Natalie's Cake

I spent some time Monday morning stamping images from a bunch of stamps that I got from Paper Makeup Stamps. One of my favorites from this order is Natalie's Cake because I LOVE cake LOL! I used one of my favorite birthday sentiment sets, also from PMS, called Birthday Cheer.

I used last Saturday's Sweet Stop Sketch for the layout - flipped to accommodate my image.

I used Labels Eight to cut my image and the ribbons are from my overflowing stash!

TFL!  Stop back shortly for my PaperCutz Challenge card!

Tutti Fruiti at TPV!

When I saw The Paper Variety's challenge this morning, I just knew I had to play along!

First I thought I was going to make a card but then I remembered I still have pictures to scrap from my niece's 1st birthday...in just a few weeks, she will be 3! I looked through some paper collections that I haven't used yet and came across the Crate Paper Neighborhood collection.  I found a few papers and a banner in there that matched the pictures quite nicely!

The background paper was labeled 'Home' and I used the 'Visit' paper to cut the top layer of the title from my Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge.  I used my swatch book to match cardstocks and was able to use some scraps of Papertrey Ink Melon Berry, Aqua Mist & Simply Chartreuse on the title shadow, photo corners & strawberries. The darker pink paper is from my way old stash.  I made the photo corners using my paper trimmer and deco scissors.

TPV is hosting a DT call too, you can check out the details HERE!

FBW #157 with Paper Pretties!

It's time for Flutter By Wednesdays!  One of my favorite days of the week :D

It's the first Wednesday of the month - can you believe it is JUNE already?!

We have an open challenge for you today - just remember to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation!

This week we are sponsored by Paper Pretties and they were so nice to give the DT images to play with! Check out the FBW blog HERE to enter your creation and to see what you can win!

I just had to play with the Flutterby digi - she is so cute!

I dug into some newer stash for my card. The paper and embellishments are all from the My Mind's Eye Gertie collection. The Flutterby image was cut using my new Labels Seventeen. I did add a little Smooch to the bracelets, necklace and butterfly but it's a bit hard to see in the photo. I also added a sentiment from one of my favorite sentiment sets - Little Moments from Paper Makeup Stamps

I hope you will join us this week - there is always so much inspiration to be found on the FBW blog!
