Have a flippin' great birthday!

Well I promised this card on Thursday and even though it's late, it's still Thursday!

I've been reading Book #2 of the Fifty Shades trilogy - even better than the first! I'm trying to pace myself through it though lol.

When I saw the Flipping Out set that was released at Papertrey Ink earlier this month, I knew I had to get it along with the coordinating die.  I have quite a few summer birthdays that it is perfect for!

My friend Courtney's birthday is on Sunday and this is the card I gave her last night. Happy to report that she loved it :)

I even decorated the inside! The sentiments on the front and inside are both from the stamp set and I used the die to cut the flip flops from the Fancy Pants Beach Babe paper that I used on the card.  The sentiment on the front of the card is one long line but I inked up each half and stamped it to fit in the space that I had.

The layout was from Just Add Ink - super cute and perfect for me to use my MFT Circle Stax dies with!

Tomorrow's Friday. Woohoo!! It seems like it's been really long for a short week!

Supplies:
Stamps: Flipping Out from Papertrey Ink
Paper: Fancy Pants Beach Babe
Ink: Memento
Other: Flipping Out die, brads from stash, MFT Die-namics Circle Stax 2

Giraffe Girl

Good morning!

I'm popping in to share a card I made at the end of April and then forgot to post it (thus missing the challenge it was created for, oops!)

I buy a lot of stuff from MFT and it was my goal to use the stamps from the VIP package at least once before they were officially released. I did accomplish my goal but I was the only one to know LOL!

This cutie pie is Giraffe Girl from the MFT Pure Innocence line. I so love these little girls!

The sketch my card is based off of~

I'll be back tomorrow with that birthday card to share! Have a great day!

Supplies~
Stamps: Giraffe Girl by MFT
Paper: Bo Bunny Zoology
Ink: Memento, copics
Other: dienamics flower, pop dots

Oh...My...Word!

Yep, it's true. I have no card to share with you today. I have been a reading fool!

Reading what, you ask?

I downloaded the sample when people first started talking about it - maybe a few months ago at this point?  I read it and didn't see the big fuss. Well then as I started hearing more about it, I bought it but didn't starting reading until a few days ago after a bunch of girls in the SNC yahoo group were reading it and already on Books #2, 3 or even finished with the trilogy.

It started off really slow for me and I wasn't sure I would keep reading but once I got past the 100 page mark, look OUT!  I finished it today...in several hours time. I've been glued to the Kindle app on my phone!

I'm definitely intrigued by Ana & Grey's story and can't wait to start Book #2, but I'm holding off for a few days before buying it or else I won't get anything else done!!

I know it's been awhile since I've mentioned the reading challenges that I'm participating in. I've got to update these posts to reflect the last two months.  According to Goodreads, I'm up to 27 books so far this year! I do keep that up to date since it's so easy to do right from my phone.

Have a good night. I'm off to make a birthday card which I can share later this week :)

Score!!!

No cards to share today. Once we got home from our afternoon of shopping, I was too hot and sticky to feel like playing.

One of our stops was at Joann to see if I could find the exclusive Basic Grey lines (I know...like I really need more BG??? Lol) I was thrilled to find an endcap full of stuff and happily shopped til my hands were full and I had to find a basket. Everything was 50% off plus I had an extra 10% off coupon. I am in a blog hop next month and also picked up a few extras to use as my prize!

I can't wait to play with all this fun stuff :)

Card #2 for Sunday

I'm back with another card! By the way, This Means War was a great movie! I'd recommend it. Both my husband and I enjoyed it.

This one went together pretty easy once I picked out a sketch.

I changed the card to a standard size since my image was on the skinny size. The border piece is another negative I saved from the chevron stripes I cut yesterday. Some embossing finished off the background piece nicely! The pretty flower image is from Tiddly Inks, although it was a freebie from ages ago and I don't see it on the site to link up.

Now that I've turned the 6 images from last Sunday into cards, I counted to see what was left of the pad. I started with 13 sheets of 6x6 sheets and lots of scraps (I would say I had a little over 1/3 left of the pad).  I'm down to 7 sheets of 6x6 sheets and still lots of scraps!  I wonder just how many cards one can make from an entire pad LOL!  Tomorrow I'll make a few more cards with some of the scraps and then move on to another pad.

Here is the sketch from Cards & Things~

Supplies~
Image: Tiddly Inks digital image
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter
Cardstock: PTI (Ripe Avocado)
Ink: copics
Other: Queen & Co Pearls, Cuttlebug Script embossing folder, diamond glaze

Mimosa's Summer Flower

Happy Sunday! I'm so glad that I still have one more day ahead of me to enjoy!

Here is a card I created this afternoon~

This is Mimosa's Summer Flower from Bildmalarna and I paired her up with Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter (card #5 from this pad).  For the layout I used Freshly Made Sketches #33 (although I flunked the clean part of the challenge so I won't be entering lol). Instead of squares I chose to use my MFT Die-namics Pretty Posies for the die cut challenge at Hotshot Craft Challenge.

Here is the sketch~

Off to watch This Means War with my hubby. Love Reese Witherspoon!

Supplies~
Stamps: Mimosa's Summer Flower by Bildmalarna
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter
Ink: Memento (Tuxedo Black, London Fog), copics
Other: MFT Die-namics Pretty Posies, Scatterd Straw Distress Stickles (on the flower)

Odette for Mojo Monday #242

This is my 3rd post today. If you would like to see what else I've created, scroll down :)

Hi again!

I am having so much fun creating tonight!  This is my 4th card using the Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter paper pad. 2 more images to go and I think I'll still have lots of paper left over. Thinking I should start making some 'scrap' cards with the leftovers. I've got a board on Pinterest dedicated to those types of cards.

I paired up Odette from The Greeting Farm with the Mojo Monday #242 sketch.

For the border piece under the image, I used a negative from the chevron stripes I used on my last card :)

Here is the sketch~

Supplies~
Stamps: Odette from The Greeting Farm
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter
Cardstock: green (PTI), red (misc. from my stash)
Ink: Memento, copics
Other: Kaisercraft pearl, MFT Die-namics Pretty Posies

I Spy Sketches #17

This is my 2nd post for today. Scroll down if you'd like to see my wedding layout! :)

Today has been such a wonderful day!  We had a great time at my parents with my sisters and their kiddies.  Lots of food and fun!

I'm here to share card #3 that I've made with the Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter paper pad.  I used yesterday's sketch at I Spy Sketches. Their sketches are always fun and I hope to play along more often.  The sample card that the sketch was based off used chevrons so it was just the inspiration I needed to use my MFT Chevron Stripes Die-namics for the first time!

Here's the sketch~

Supplies~
Stamp: The Greeting Farm (sorry I don't recall her name!), hello from a Paper Smooches set (I added part of a line to the h since it looked like nello LOL!)
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter
Cardstock: misc from my stash
Ink: Memento, copics
Other: Lemon Ice stickles, MFT Chervron Stripes Die-namics, cuttlebug embossing folder

Ceremony ~ A Wedding Layout!

Happy Saturday!

Any plans for the weekend?  We are going to my parents' today along with 2 of my sisters and their kids. I hope to take lots of pictures of all the little ones :)

I created this page last night for two challenges: Creative Scrappers Sketch #208 and Frosted Designs Fabulous Friday Challenge - Weddings.

I wrote the journaling right on the paper and it's a little hard to see unless you enlarge the picture. It simply reads "Ceremony pictures taken by our guests".  I really love this sketch and plan to do a mirrored 2nd page with more photos from our ceremony.  The paper and embellishments (except the bling and Thickers) are all from the Basic Grey Capella collection.

Have a great day!

Fairy Fae

My 2nd card of the day!

Having images colored ahead of time really makes a difference in getting cards created quicker :)

This is also card #2 using the Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter 6x6 pad. I'm trying to see how many cards I can make from what's left of it! The image is Fairy Fae from Tiddly Inks. I've had her printed out for so long. Happy to finally use her!

I used last Saturday's sketch from Utah Divas International for my card layout. It was perfect to showcase the image as well as include a few other elements, like the embossing and border dies.

Now I'm off to scrap a layout for a few challenges on a Yahoo group!

Supplies~
Image: Fairy Fae by Tiddly Inks
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlet's Letter
Ink: Colorbox Chalk Ink in Olive Pastel, copics
Other: cuttlebug embossing folder, Scalloped Eyelet Border die from Taylored Expressions, Recollections pearls, Frosted Lace stickles

You Sparkle

TGIF and Cheers to a long weekend!

I got out of work early today so I decided to start putting cards together with the images I colored on Sunday.  There are so many layers on this one that it took me awhile!

In addition to trying to use my Basic Grey stash this week along with Danni, I also need to start using more cardstock and my tools like embossing folders and dies.  I was able to use all those things on this card, go me! I picked out several shades of cardstock that matched this paper pad and will see how I do using it over the next 5 cards that I have images colored for. For my layout, I used this week's CPS sketch (shown below).

Here's another look so you can see the dimension~

And here is the sketch from CPS~

Supplies~
Stamps: Twinkle Fairy by Stamping Bella, Happily Ever After by Scrappy Moms Stamps (sentiment)
Cardstock: red (misc. brand), green (PTI), black (DCWV)
Paper: Basic Grey Scarlett's Letter
Ink: Memento, copics
Other: sizzix embossing folder, Queen & Co. rhinestones, pop dots, star dust stickles, Die-namics Scallop Ribbon border

Mother's Day 2012 Layout

Yes it's two posts in one day from me!  Scroll down to see the adorable baby shower invitations I posted earlier this evening :)

Here is the layout I scrapped tonight, it's for the Lasting Memories "Celebrate Mom or Another Special Woman in your Life" challenge and it's my entry for the SNC 52 week challenge. These are pictures of my mom and I on Mother's Day. They were taken in front of my house.  The azaleas look so awesome in these pictures - sadly they don't last long enough. I added the journaling under the picture on the left. The date is on the tab where it pulls out.

I used a sketch from Sketch Inspiration for my page~

Supplies~
Paper: Authentique Uncommon, Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream cardstock
Other: Thickers, Prima flowers

Thanks for looking!

Baby Shower Invitations

Hello!

I can type with two hands again. Yay!  The anti inflammatory and brace have helped so much :)  I'm looking forward to getting scrappy tonight!

Just wanted to pop in to finally share those baby shower invitations that I made back in March. It feels like a lifetime ago. I haven't posted this on my blog before but my nephew was born 2 months early on March 23rd, just a few weeks after we mailed out the invitations.  His name is Kaleb and he is doing fabulous! He will be 9 weeks old tomorrow.  I get to see him again this weekend and I can't wait :)  Yes, I'm a proud auntie for sure.

I created these pocket cards using directions from Splitcoast Stampers~

(Click to view a larger version)

The inserts were stamped using an invitation stamp from Taylored Expressions - although I'd recommend creating something on the computer to save time. I didn't think of that as I had my heart set on using the stamp. The monkey, zebra and lion were all cut using the Create a Critter cricut cartridge. I made 40 altogether between the 3 styles.  I picked up the "It's a Shower!" stamp from Joann Fabrics. I got to use up lots of old blue cardstock and the patterned paper is from a small DCWV stack.

Here's a picture of me and my nephew taken this past weekend :)

Thanks for stopping by!

What I've been up to!

Sorry for the lack of posting. I had some difficulties last week with my right hand. According to my doctor, I have arthritis in it. So I've been wearing a brace and trying to rest it per his orders. Lots of one handed typing going on!

Thankfully I am a lefty so I spent some time coloring last night. Danni is having Basic Grey week on her blog. I was supposed to be joining her but those plans got a bit off track. Hopefully I'll be back to using my trimmer and other tools later this week.

Argh! ~ a Disney layout

Happy Tuesday!

Any Smash fans here?  It's one of my new favorite shows.  The finale was awesome but now I have to wait until mid-season next year for it to start again! Tonight is the finale for NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles. Looking forward to watching those with my hubby :)

Here is a layout I did at the NSD crop and it was my entry for Week #19 of the SNC 52 Week Challenge. I just love how this turned out. I had these papers and a package of buttons in my stash (possibly from a swap??) and I printed these pics to go with them.  Made up my own sketch and plopped the pics and buttons down and voila - a super fun page!  I giggled and giggled as I added the pirate button to my hubby's head LOL!

I added a fan page for my blog to facebook, if anyone would like to keep up with me that way :)
Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/ScrapColorReadRepeat  It's still in progress but I'm having fun with it!

Have a great day!

A Change...

*Please scroll down to see my newest card creation*

I decided to change the name of my blog today - this marks twice in the last 6 months or so and 4th time overall in the many years that I've been blogging.  I'm hoping this change sticks with me.  I was looking for something that encompasses what I like and was a bit more playful, just like the new blog background I added.

I am hoping to get back to commenting on blogs as I have started to miss it, just like I have missed crafting often.  I'm going to get my lazy self to unpack my crop bags so I can share everything I created at the NSD weekend crop and I still have quite a few (now) older pages & projects to share.

While joining DT's and such are not on my radar, playing along with other challenges has been fun again and I am looking forward to doing more of that! So keep your fingers crossed and look for some new creations very soon :)

Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

I started my day being woken up with doggy kisses from Amber and then I spent the day with my mom :)

Here is the card I made for her this morning - yes, I'm a last minute girl and work better under pressure LOL!

I used the London Market Project Pantry kit and the Make It Amazing stamp set from Taylored Expressions. Aren't the papers so pretty! I knew they would make a wonderful card for my mom.

I am entering the card in several challenges:

Here's a pic I had my hubby take of us after we got back from shopping and lunch :)

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!

I feel like today is Christmas LOL!!  I registered for a crop about 3 weeks ago with two of my favorite scrappy friends and have been SOOOOO excited for it!  We haven't seen each other in awhile and it's been at least 6 months since we attended a crop at our favorite store.

As soon as I registered I started packing...and then the last few nights I changed my mind on some things and repacked a bit LOL!

I took this picture last night after I was all done...Instagram is my new friend!

As I posted on facebook last night, yes I think the kitchen sink is packed in there too LOL!  Our crop is all day today and tomorrow too.  So pretty soon I will finally have lots of new scrappy stuff to share. I still have some layouts and cards to post...however, the motivation to blog just hasn't been there.  I think today will recharge my creativeness and then I hope to be bursting at the seams to share everything.

Will you be scrapping today?

Whatever you do, have a great day/weekend!!
