FBW #148 - Buttons & Bows

Happy Wednesday!

I am so excited to bring you a new Flutter By Wednesday challenge - did you know that we had over 200 entries last week - woohoo!! Can we top that this week? I bet you'd like to know the challenge before answering that question right? lol

We'd like to see Buttons AND Bows on your card/project this week (must have both!) along with a butterfly, fairy or angel.  I had so much fun putting my card together! I started by picking out my stamps first - some newer ones from Memory Box ~ Leaf Print Butterfly and Vintage Record Sheet. Then I was going to use some Memory Box paper but I couldn't find it and decided to break open my Pink Paislee Queen Bee 6x6 pad that has been collecting dust for quite some time. In my blog hopping over the past few weeks I have seen a lot of layered embellishments and incorporated a button & bow in one for my card.  I really like how it turned out!  The sentiment is from the Verve Kind Words set.

Lasting Memories #31

Edited to add my pictures back in...somehow they disappeared!

{Please scroll down for my first post of the day!}

It's Sketch Time at Lasting Memories!

Here is the sketch that we were given to use~

And here is my take on it. I rotated it to fit my picture~

I used Basic Grey Jovial collection except for the lettering -those are from some ancient stash!

Click HERE to play along at Lasting Memories and to see the DT's take on the sketch!

Birthday Sundaes #2

Good morning!

Time for the 2nd Birthday Sundaes challenge! I was so thrilled to see such an awesome response to our first challenge last week!

Today's challenge is to create a spring themed birthday card (don't forget a birthday greeting/sentiment!)  This is one of the cards from the batch I made last month. To 'birthday it up' I added the 'Happy Bird-day!' from the MFT 'You're So Tweet' stamp set. The fun image and chickadee sentiment are from the PTI Everyday Button Bits set.

I used ESS118 for the layout, which you can see HERE.

To play along, please enter your card HERE and check out all the wonderful samples from my design team!

I'll be back in a jif with my Lasting Memories post!

Artful Delight is celebrating and a page to share!

Artful Delight is celebrating their one year anniversary and you can win some awesome blog candy. Check it out HERE.  I am a subscriber and I just LOVE these kits. You get a lot of product and can make a ton of projects! Thanks to my friends April & Abby for pointing me in the direction of this awesome kit company!

Here is a page I made using March's kit~everything came from the kit except the bling at the bottom and the tiny type stickers. I had fun distressing the 'hike' letters and the leaf!

Enjoy the Ride - PCC #84

TGIF!  I am a happy happy person today! It's Friday AND last night my husband booked our belated honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip to DISNEY for September!!!!!!!!! I went to Magic Kingdom once back in 2000 and he's never been at all so it will definitely be a magical trip!

Back to the reason you are here - PaperCutz Challenge #84!  We'd like to see your cards, layouts or projects using 3 patterned papers with any colors/themes you'd like!

Here is my take~
I've had this card done for almost a month now with the exception of the buttons on it...when I had the bright idea to make a bunch of cards using the PTI Everday Button Bits set, I forgot to pack buttons LOL! So I'm slowly finishing them up now that I found buttons to match (BG Jovial collection!)

All of the paper is from the TE July kit using KI Memories Paisley Parade paper.  The ribbon and pearls came from the TE store.  I used my Labels 9 nestabilities to cut/layer the image. I used the February Sketch for You to Try for the layout.

To play along with PaperCutz, please click HERE!

Also, I'm entering this into Clear It Out's challenge #2 - Buttons!

Flutter By Wednesday #147

Halfway to the weekend, yay! Although it's going to be coooooooold here, not spring like at all!!!

Today's FBW challenge is an open one - just remember to include a butterfly, fairy or angel! Link your creation up HERE and check out all the DT inspiration - links on my sidebar.

I always find these open weeks difficult - so many stamps, so little time! I finally settled on using my Simply Special stamp from Paper Pretties. I won it in Danni's FBW Birthday Blowout candy back in September and it hadn't seen ink yet.

I love how this turned out!  The layout is from this week's Paper Craft Planet sketch.  I did change it from a square to standard size card since the paper I used was 4.5x6.5 versus 6x6.

Have a great day!

Masculine Birthday Card

My 3rd post for the day, please scroll down Lasting Memories and Birthday Sundaes posts!

I have a quick birthday card to share with you tonight. I was going to wait but I will probably forget if I don't do it now LOL! I used an older uninked stamp too - yay me! It's from a birthday set from Savvy Stamps, bought ages ago at my LSS.

I saw this cool sketch this morning and it was perfect for the card that I had in mind for a birthday party today.  I was surprised at how quickly it came together for a masculine card!  The paper is from the Basic Grey Oliver 6x6 pad, brads & ribbon from my stash!

Man and his best friend

So I'm quite late with my Lasting Memories challenge post...it's been a whirlwind weekend and I can't believe it's just about over already!

We are challenging you to a recipe this week - 1 diecut, 2 brads and 3 layers - fun!!

Here is my take ~

I was so happy to finally use my sweet spots from Precocious Paper! Love these, they were part of a holiday set and the two brads on the top spots were perfect for this page :)  Had to get a little girly stuff in there for my pup lol!  The journaling reads "I just love this picture of my husband and our dog, Amber. I captured this moment at my parents' house while we were celebrating Pat's birthday."  I had a lot of fun with the title, I went back to my 'roots' and stamped it with 4 different sets from Close to My Heart - Swirl Stroke caps, Swirl Stroke lowercase, The Works Alphabet and Simple Stitches.

This is the sketch that I based my page on (from Get Your Sketch On - a cool newer sketch blog!)

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #1

Yay, today is finally here!!  I am so excited for Birthday Sundaes to begin. The samples from the design team are all so wonderful and I couldn't wait to share them with everyone!

Our first challenge is 'Anything Goes Birthday' and it must include some birthday wording/sentiment on the card front.  If you play along, you can win a prize! I am sponsoring this week's challenge with a Cupcake Ruby stamp from Sparkle Creations Rubber Stamps.

Here is my card~

I made this card last month during a crop at my friend's, not sure where my notes are but I did use a sketch for the layout.  The cardstock/dp/ribbon are all from the July Kit from Taylored Expressions. DP is KI Memories - Paisley Parade. The cool image is from the Papertrey Ink Everyday Button Bits set, it was a MUST have for me and it sat for almost a year before seeing ink.  I made a bunch of cards with it the day I made this one. I so love the fun things you can do with the images. These buttons are from my stash, I love the patterned one!

To play along with Birthday Sundaes and to see some fantastic samples from my team, please click HERE.  You can also find links to their blogs on my left sidebar.

I'll be back soon with my Lasting Memories challenge post!

Paper Cutz Challenge #83 - Your Choice

TGIF!

I'm a little late with my post...but that happens when you've had a card done way in advance but wait until the last minute to take a picture and discover the camera battery dead and the charger MIA!

Today's PaperCutz challenge is Your Choice!  Link up your creation HERE and check out all the DT inspiration while you are there too!

This is just one of many cards I created using a TE Key Ingredients Kit, love them!  The paper is KI Memories - Paisley Parade. I love the bright fun colors. The image is from Stamping Bella and the sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps.  My Paisley cuttlebug folder got a work out with this paper too, perfect matchup!  I used Stamping 411 #191 for the card layout.

Flutter By Wednesday #146

Happy Wednesday!

Today's Flutter By Wednesday's challenge is to use green and/or a sketch by Carly, along with a butterfly, fairy or angel! You can see the sketch HERE on the FBW challenge blog.

I decided to do the green challenge. I was moving things around in my room and found these Poppyseed papers by K & Company, perfect for what I had in mind!

The pretty daffodills are from the Digi Doodle Shop, a newer to me digi company. I've had them printed out for weeks and since spring is on my mind, here they are finally on a card!

Green & White at Lasting Memories!

We have a color challenge for you today at Lasting Memories. Use GREEN & WHITE predominately on your layout,  other colors may be used but you must have Green & White to be entered in for the prize.  What's that...a prize? Why yes!  We have an awesome prize pack for you this challenge being offered by our own Leisa! You can check it out HERE!

Here is my take on the challenge...I have to admit I didn't know what the heck I was going to scrap until late last night.  I was planning to do some outdoor pictures but surprisingly the layout wouldn't be mostly green so they it hit me...Christmas!

So I pulled out these pictures and my Basic Grey Jovial collection and got to work.

I also incorporated a fun challenge from a yahoo group I'm in. We had to pick ingredients for a sundae - this week I chose Rocky Road ice cream, hot fudge and chocolate sprinkles.  The recipe for my sundae called for green, stitching (real or faux) and photo corners. I was lucky to find photo corners in the Jovial chipboard pack! I will have to share last week's page soon.

If you'd like to enter the Lasting Memories challenge, please click HERE.  You can also check out the DT's Green & White layouts while you are there!

The Birthday Sundaes DT...

has been announced. You can meet them all HERE!

Tagged by Christina!

I was tagged by my friend Christina a few weeks ago and I'm finally remembering to post it!

I'm supposed to answer these 9 questions. This should be fun as it's coming from a foodie blog (and I think most of my friends know I like to stay far away from the kitchen LOL!)

1.What do you refuse to eat?
Seafood!! Yuck!
2. What is the most ethnic dish you have ever made?
Um...I think I'll have to pass on this question lol
3. Salt or Sweet?
Sweet and preferably chocolate!
4. What kitchen gadget can you not live without?
The microwave!
5. Last restaurant you ate at?
That wasn't fast food or a chain restaurant? Wow, I can't think of a 'real' restaurant...think I need to make my husband take me out on a date soon!...The last chain was Friendly's and the last fast food was McDonald's.
6. Where would you like to live if you could move anywhere in the world?
Somewhere where there is little to no humidity. My asthma would thank me!
7. What is your blog about?
Scrapbooking, Card Making, ramblings about life
8. Do you have pets?
I can happily answer this question, yay!  We adopted a terrier mix in October 2010, her name is Amber aka Trouble. She's adorable but a handful!!
9. What’s the last city you visited?
For work, New Haven, CT - I only live 3 miles from work!
For vacation, - vacation? Haven't had one of those in years! If I consider my mini-moon as a vacation then Ledyard, CT. We spent the night of our wedding near a casino.

Now I have to tag 4 other bloggers:
Diane from Diane's Designs
Karen from Karen's Crafty Creations
Sandi from Slightly Off Center
Michelle from A Full Life

Tag!! You're it! Now it's your turn to answer these questions! :)

PaperCutz Challenge #82 - Color Challenge!

TGIF!

We have a color challenge for you at PaperCutz today.  We want to see red, blue, yellow, black and white ONLY on your project!  Surprisingly I actually found this pretty easy, I didn't think I would lol!

Basic Grey has an awesome line called JuneBug and it has all of these colors, unfortunately I couldn't find my paper pad but I was able to make a card just using the Woolies embellishments and created a CAS card. I like it! The background was embossed with a Sizzix folder.

I used a CAS layout from one of my favorites sites, you can see it HERE.

To play along with PaperCutz, please click HERE. You can also check out more inspiration from the DT using the links on my left sidebar!

Have a great day!

Flutter By Wednesday #145

If you stopped by earlier for my Flutter By Wednesday card, sorry about not having it up! {waving hi to Kimberly!} I've been having some router issues this week, hopefully my dear techy husband will resolve them soon {waving hi to him too if he's reading this!}

This week's FBW challenge is to create a card based on this inspiration picture

I was immediately drawn to the daisies, they are my favorite flower! I decided to use another image from last week's sponsor, Robyn's Fetish, called Daisy Days. Appropriate, right? :)

The paper and woolies are from the Basic Grey Green at Heart collection, one of my favorites from them!

I used the March sketch from Sketch for You to Try, I got to use up some scraps. Yay me!

If you'd like to play along with FBW, please link your card HERE and you can see more inspiration from the fabulous team, check out the links on my left sidebar!

Paper Cutz #81 - St. Patrick's Day

{2nd post of the day - please scroll down for my Lasting Memories challenge!}

I'm a few days late with the Paper Cutz challenge...finally managed to get a card done today. The first attempt ended up in the trash last week. The challenge is St. Patrick's Day (as if you couldn't tell by my post title lol!) Not completely thrilled with this card, I think if I was to re-do this card I would use a white base and layer the green embossed background on top.

I did create this card with 100% stash, I'm quite proud of that. Little by little, I'll get this stuff used up!

I used Cardabilities #26 for the layout of the card.

I also incorporated these challenges~
The Corrosive Challenge #106 - Going Green!
Do You Stack Up #9 - Just Green It!
Friday Mashup #34 - Thinkin' Green
Clear It Out Challenge #1 - Anything Goes

TFL!

Card Details ~ Clover Riley (Riley & Company), DCWV patterned paper, Georgia Pacific cardstock, copics (N2, N7, G28, E27), Gold smooch, prima flowers, brads & ribbon from stash, mini pop dots, swiss dots cuttlebug folder

Lasting Memories Challenge #28

Sigh...the weekend is almost over :(

But the good news is I have a new Lasting Memories challenge to share with you!

"You're the Boss"
Please show us your unique style!

And........we have a sponsor for you!!

Original Digital Stamps

You can win one of three prizes, check out all the details HERE
and see how the design team used images generously provided by our sponsor!

Here is my take on the challenge.  I really loved using the Journal Set #2 from Tiffany's Doodles! You can see 2 of the photo corners on each picture and well as the journaling spot.  How fun to be able to color it to match anything you are working on! Now that I noticed it, I should have colored the photo corners too.

I took these pics the day we adopted Amber.
We had to wait for a vet to check her out before we could leave. To me that means photo op!

I used last week's Creative Scrappers sketch, however I did rotate it to suit my pictures.

Now show us how 'You're the Boss"!!

Layout Details: Basic Grey Max & Whiskers paper, bloomers, chipboard; Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type letters, misc. letter stickers, Storybook Cricut cartridge (for the scalloped circle), Journal Set #2 from Tiffany's Doodles

Project Scrap Our Stash - February

At the end of January, I signed up for Project Scrap Our Stash on Denise's blog HERE.  I really should have known better LOL!

I blew the no spending part of it in the first few days!! Digi stamps..then I pre-ordered some Basic Grey stuff...then I got to go to a stamp store that I haven't been to in about 3 years. I was a VERY bad girl!

However, I DID use some stash so hopefully that redeems me just a bit LOL!  I made a card or two with some extremely old paper and then I made 7 cards from one of my Taylored Expressions kits from last summer. Yay me!

I did not sign up for March...I know me, I love to shop!  However, I still plan on working on paring down my stash so there is hope for me yet :)

February Month in Review

A few days late but I'm checking in with how I did with my goals for February!

February
  • Spend more quality time with my husband - Yes :)
  • Create my wedding thank you cards - for those that don't know the wedding was in September 2010! - Still haven't mailed them out. Definitely making it a priority for March as we will be married for 6 months on the 18th!
  • Organize my printed photos and print new pictures on a monthly basis - no
  • Take the Copic class that I won on FBW in September 2010 - no
  • Complete the Sketch 106 class from November 2010 -no
  • Complete the Colour! Or is it Color? class from November 2010 - no
  • Unpack and finish moving stuff from my mom's (seeing as I've lived here over a year!) - We relocated boxes from the hallway to the scrap room - that's as far as it went lol
  • Get my scrappy room in working order so I don't feel so overwhelmed in there - I did make some progress until I had to move the boxes in there!
  • Complete one item on the house to-do list each month -yes, we finally got the flooring down in the dining room and moved all of the clutter out!!
  • Pay off 50% of my debt by December 2011 - I paid off one small credit card balance...as for making the goal, not to sure on that I did add to my debt with some CHA pre-orders (oops lol!!)
  • Read more books - 2 books. I read A Killer Plot by Ellery Adams, new series for me. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and the town that the book is based in. I also read The Island by Elin Hildebrand. I read through this book quickly, it was definitely an enjoyable read - fun characters and a great family storyline.  As of the end of February, I have read over 1,500 pages this year! Even though I use the Kindle primarily I look up how many pages the print book is and add it to my spreadsheet.
  • Commit to making less commitments! ha, ha! I think I need to take this off the goal list lol!  I decided to start a new challenge blog, Birthday Sundaes, so have been working behind the scenes on this.

My Word ~ Create
  • Create a healthier version of me - still need to work on this!! I can't wait for the warmer weather so I can be active outside. Working out inside is so boring!
  • Create a tidier home - My home is definitely cleaner!  Not as clean as I ultimately want it, but soooo much better than it has been!
  • Create for myself - I didn't get as much done for me as I would have liked but hey it was a short month!
Total Craft Counts~ definitely a slower month but that's okay!
Cards - 18
Layouts - 5
Pictures Scrapped - 11

FBW meets Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps

Happy March! I can't believe it's the beginning of the 3rd month of the year already! The time just seems to zoom by lately.

It's Wednesday and you all know what that means, it's time for another Flutter By Wednesday challenge! Today we are sponsored by Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps. We were generously provided with some adorable images to work with!

We have an open challenge today, just remember to include a butterfly, fairy or angel!

Here is my card ~ I chose to work with My Spring Garden.  I am so wishing spring was here!! I can't wait to see blooms start popping up in my yard....if the dang snow ever completely melts LOL!

I pulled this paper out a few weekends ago and thought it would be pretty with this image, there is no info on the back so I have no idea where it's from lol. The big flower is Heidi Swapp.  I popped the image off the flower and added some Martha Stewart butterflies.

If you'd like to play along for a chance to win some images, please enter your creation HERE.  You can see more inspiration from the DT, links are on my left sidebar!
