FBW #178 - Thankful/Gratitude

It's Wednesday, yay!

This week's Flutter By Wednesdays challenge is Thankful/Gratitude. Don't forget to include a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation (I almost did!!)  Click {HERE} to enter your creation and for more inspiration, please visit my fellow DT members, links on my sidebar!

My card is the one I started coloring last week when I realized it didn't fit the challenge, he he. I'm excited to finally share my little PI girl with you all! This is Calendula and she is the October flower of the month. I just ordered November's and can't wait to get it!

Here's a side view so you can see how I popped the flower up, this was done for a pop up swap that I am in a card group I belong to.  The paper is Crate Paper Farmhouse - a line I am in love with, just as much as I love their Random line LOL!  Everything except the rhinestones are from the TE October Key Ingredients kit.

I used this week's Critter Sketch Challenge sketch, perfect layout for my little girl!

Thanks for fluttering by today!

Use your scraps for FBW #175!

Happy Wednesday!

This week's Flutter By Wednesday challenge is to use your scraps along with a butterfly, fairy or angel.  We also have a wonderful guest designer, Barbara! Check out the FBW blog to see what she created and to enter your own creation.  You can check out the rest of the DT using the links of my left sidebar.

My card is one from the crop I attended over the weekend. I had to use my favorite paper pad - Random from Crate Paper. I've been using it lots so I had plenty of scraps to choose from LOL. I really think I'll need to buy another one when this pad is done. LOVE it!!

I used a Mojo Monday sketch from a few weeks ago, I thought one of the four squares was perfect to add a quote. This one is from Paper Makeup Stamps and it's from the Purpose of Friendship quote set, you can also get this individual quote as a digi.  I inked all the edges with my fave chalk ink - Colorbox Chestnut Roan.  The butterflies are from a Martha Stewart punch. I can save all my itty bitty scraps to punch oodles of them!

TFL!  I'll be back in the next few days with lots more cards to show you. I made 6 in all last Saturday but didn't unpack them until this morning.

Belated Birthday Card Challenge for Birthday Sundaes!

Good morning!

Today's Birthday Sundaes Challenge should be helpful for lots of people :o)  We are challenging you to create a belated birthday card, don't forget that the birthday wording should be visible on the front of your card. The Design Team really came up with some fun ideas. Click {HERE} to see the samples and enter your card!  Did you see our Guest Designer Sabrina's Spotlight? If not, click {HERE} to check it out!

Here is my take on the challenge~

I found the sentiment in a Fiskars Make a Wish Quotes set that I picked up quite a few months ago at Joann's. I think this is only the second time I've touched this set!  The fabulous paper is new Crate Paper Random that I got from SCACD last week, love the mix of patterns in this pad!  I dug the primas out of my stash and blinged them up. The border punch is also by Fiskars and called Apron Lace.

I used last week's SCS sketch as a jumping point - a great sketch to use something other than an image. I have really been enjoying making cards without coloring, although I'm not sure I make them any faster LOL!!  I spend lots of time looking through all my pretties to decide what to use.

Scrappin' Saturdays

I have been wanting to get myself on a schedule of sorts for scrapping.  I always make time for cards but never enough time for scrapping my memories. I hope to start sharing at least one page every Saturday from now on - and I have roped Danni into doing it with me :) And she is inspiring me to use my Cricut more as she is trying to use hers more too!

Today's page is another for the sunflower maze that Mike and I visited about 3 years ago.  My friend Jen and I were going to go last weekend but Irene messed those plans up.  I was so looking forward to seeing it as it was in the shape of a butterfly and I think we all know I love butterflies!

I started with Sunday's Studio Calico sketch, in place of the smaller pictures I decided to take two pictures and turn them into mosaics.

Here is my take on the sketch~

I love how the title turned out!  First I cut the title in the orange and then I cut the shadow in brown.  When I was re-cutting the shadow (first time I ran out of paper!), I discovered the word petals by itself on another screen so I cut that in the patterned paper. I think that may be the first time I've ever cut multiple layers for a title and I love how it turned out!

Supply List~

  • Crate Paper Lemon Grass - Lime, Straw, Poppyseed papers
  • Crate Paper Lemon Grass glitter borders
  • Cricut Country Life Cartridge for the title
  • Bling from stash

Tutti Fruiti at TPV!

When I saw The Paper Variety's challenge this morning, I just knew I had to play along!

First I thought I was going to make a card but then I remembered I still have pictures to scrap from my niece's 1st birthday...in just a few weeks, she will be 3! I looked through some paper collections that I haven't used yet and came across the Crate Paper Neighborhood collection.  I found a few papers and a banner in there that matched the pictures quite nicely!

The background paper was labeled 'Home' and I used the 'Visit' paper to cut the top layer of the title from my Simply Charmed Cricut cartridge.  I used my swatch book to match cardstocks and was able to use some scraps of Papertrey Ink Melon Berry, Aqua Mist & Simply Chartreuse on the title shadow, photo corners & strawberries. The darker pink paper is from my way old stash.  I made the photo corners using my paper trimmer and deco scissors.

TPV is hosting a DT call too, you can check out the details HERE!

Flutter By Wednesdays #156 - Clean & Simple

Today's Flutter By Wednesdays challenge is to create a Clean & Simple Card, don't forget your butterfly, fairy or angel! Click HERE to link up your creation.

I had fun putting this card together to share with you all.

Hopefully it still looks like a CAS card...I couldn't stay away from the patterned paper LOL!  I used my Crate Paper Emma's Shoppe for the first time along with some trim that I got when I went to Hobby Lobby on Saturday.  The butterfly is a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment is from the Verve Kind Wishes stamp set.

I used this week's FTL sketch.

Be sure to check out my teammates who I am sure will rock this challenge! Links are on my left sidebar and on the FBW page.

May LOAD - Day 4

Today I decided to make a 2 page layout. These will be added to the book I started about our visit to a sunflower maze a few summers ago.

{click picture for a larger view}

The journaling reads 'As we walked around the maze, I was surprised to find so many different colors of sunflowers. They were all so beautiful!'

PaperCutz #71

TGIF!!

Today's PaperCutz challenge is to create a card, layout or craft project using a hand stamped, digital stamp, or Cricut cut snowflake or snowman...boy did I have a tough time picking what to use LOL. I *might* have a few too many snowmen stamps!

The image I finally picked is one that I've had printed forever from Tiddly Inks. It's called Something Warm and a super bargain at $1.00! I love the non-traditional colored paper from the Snow Day collection by Crate Paper. The snow is from Martha Stewart, as are the snowflake punches. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts set and was stamped on a Stampin Up punch out.

To play along with PaperCutz and to see what the rest of the design team created, please click HERE!

24 Hour Challenge

Every month, Scrappin-n-Chattin has a 24 hour challenge. We pick 3 collections to work with and April, our hostess, picks 3 sketches. Then our partner picks a collection and a sketch for us to use, and then we have 24 hours to complete the layout. My partner picked Sketch #2 and the Crate Paper collection - Sweet Branch for me.

Here is the sketch ~ from the Scrapville Blog.

Here is my version~

Once I got the pictures printed the way I liked them, it actually went together pretty quickly. At first I printed out color versions of these pictures, but they were way to bright and vivid for this pretty paper. The black & white looks so much better! I really love how this turned out, these are the first pictures that I have scrapped of my niece. She will be 4 months old tomorrow :o)

I'll be back in the morning with a new Lasting Memories challenge!

Squigglefly Challenge #52

It's Challenge #52 over at Squigglefly today!

Maria issued a picnic theme challenge - use a food or drink image on your creation!

I dug into my stash and pulled out this fun cupcake and sentiment from the Jane's Bakery set, this is such a fun set! No sketch, amazing huh? I still had the Crate Paper Bliss collection on my desk, thought that would be fun paper for my party card.

The images were popped up with mini pop dots and the cupcake was accented with cotton candy and fuschia stickles.

If you'd like to play along, please link your creation (using a Squigglefly image!) to the Squigglefly blog and for more inspiration, please visit my fellow team members' blogs - links are to the left!

Have a great day!

Scrappy Saturday!

I had a nice lazy day today and participated in an online crop hosted by one of the yahoo groups I belong to.

All pictures are from a trip to a sunflower maze back in September 2008. You can see the first pages I scrapped of it HERE.

The above layout is based on a sketch that Cherie of Sassy Lil Sketches drew for our group, I love the mixtures of patterned papers!

This 2 page layout was based on a Pencil Lines sketch shown below ~ click the picture if you want a closer look.

All papers are from the Lemon Grass collection by Crate Paper, love this stuff. Looking forward to using the scraps on cards!

TFL, hope you are all having a great weekend!
