Cooking It Up with Katie #73

Today is Wednesday, it's time for Cooking It Up with Katie!

Our challenge this week includes the following recipe:
  • Sticker (I used Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers)
  • Bling (I swear the brads are sparkly!)
  • Pink
And we have two sponsors for you!  MelJens Designs (who provided us with some fun images to use) and Pizazz A Plenty.  Please check out the Cooking It Up with Katie blog to see all the sponsor details and DT samples and to enter your creation!

Here is my sample card using Book Girl.

I absolutely LOVE how she is colored - I really took my time and the results show.  I was beginning to think that I was losing my coloring abilities but it turns out that rushing is my problem and this power outage taught me to slow down so I can enjoy the process more.  I also think that when I get back into my room (I've been working in the dining room), I'm going to move my desk to a better angle so I can enjoy the natural light more (for the times I actually get to enjoy daylight).

I used this sketch from PaperWorks Co for my card:

Supply List~
Stamps: MelJens Designs Book Girl digi image
Paper: Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush cardstock, Echo Park Paper For the Record, image was printed on Copic Xpress Blend it cardstock
Other: copics, Making Memories brads, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers

Down on the Farm with PaperCutz, a TE sketch & some PCC news!

This week's PaperCutz Challenge is one I had fun with!  The theme is Down on the Farm, we'd like you to create a card, layout or project using something you'd find on a farm - animals, fruits, veggies, farm equipment, scarecrows, etc.  You can enter your creation {HERE} and while you are there check out the rest of the DT's samples!

Do you want to be part of an awesome Design Team? Mary is just wonderful to work with! PCC would like to add 4 new members, you can check out all the details in {THIS POST}

My take on the challenge~

I had fun getting inky on this card. I inked a few of the layers with Colorbox Chestnut Roan chalk ink and I used tissue paper to sponge the same ink onto the image so the piggies would look like they were in mud - so fun!

My card layout is the current Taylored Expression sketch challenge. The stamps on my card are also from TE, Udderly Sweet.

Supply List~
Taylored Expressions Udderly Sweet stamp set
Copic Xpress Blend It cardstock
Colored cardstock (from TE Project Pantry kit)
Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety dp (from TE Project Pantry kit)
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Colorbox Chestnut Roan chalk ink
Zig .01 writer (to darken the 2nd line of the sentiment)
Making Memories flower & button

Beach or Travel for PaperCutz #94!

Happy Friday!!!

This 4 day week went by FAST! Any fun plans for the weekend?  We plan to work cleaning up our yard more and I hope to get some more crafting done!

Today's PaperCutz Challenge is to create a card, layout or project with a beach or travel theme using any colors you'd like! I have had this stamp for AGES!  I can't recall EVER using it!! Seriously! I know my sister used it for a swap many, many years ago but I really don't think I ever made anything using it!  If you would like to play along with us at PaperCutz this week, please click HERE!

{Don't get blinded by the Smooch! LOL!}

Very simple and flat, easy for mailing! The paper is from a Making Memories Travel pad that I picked up quite some time ago at Big Lots.  I've had this stuff set aside to make a scrapbook for the postage stamps I've saved over the years. I used to collect them when I was a kid and started again when I started swapping cards with people all over the world.

I am also entering this card into Shopping Our Stash #2 - Oldies But Goodies Challenge. My Guest Designer position starts with their next challenge on Tuesday! Can't wait to share what I've made for it!

It's time to party with Party Time Tuesdays!

This is the last challenge until October, we'd love to have you play along! The challenge is to use brads on your birthday card (along with the required birthday greeting/sentiment).

This is very CAS for me, it was tough to leave the 'white' space empty LOL! The images are Danni's Flutterbies from Paper Makeup Stamps, I had such fun coloring them. I added some Smooch Illuminate but didn't get the camera to catch the sparkle all that well. The flower brads are from Making Memories.

I also incorporated the following challenges:
Flutterby Wednesday #119 - open week (just use a butterfly, fairy or angel)
Makeup for the Weekend #40 - birthday card
Get Sketchy #53

If you'd like to play along with PTT, please link your card to the PTT blog by Sunday night to have a chance at the Top 3! You'll find oodles of inspiration on the blog as well!

PTT #2

It's time to party with Party Time Tuesdays!

Challenge #2 is to include a number on your birthday card - an actual number or paper with numbers, your choice! Don't forget the greeting/sentiment!

I had this card in mind when I came up with this challenge, my adorable niece's birthday is on the 20th and I wanted to get her card done early LOL

This is Izzy with a Birfday cake from Stamping Bella, I thought she was so cute and appropriate for a little girl! Paper is from the Making Memories Sabrina collection. I did start off with this week's sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You, but then I went in a different direction lol.

Other challenges I am entering this card in:
Critter Sketch Challenge #17 - create a child's birthday card
Cupcake Craft Challenge #94 - Dazzle Us (lots of spica pen work on the cake, polka dots and happy bday!)

To play along, please link your newly created birthday card to the Party Time Tuesdays blog by Sunday night at 8pm (if you would like to be considered for Top 3!) Also check please out my wonderful design team, creations are on the PTT blog and their direct links are listed on the right sidebar of my blog.

EDLC Day #6 & Sketchy Thursday's July GDT sketch

It's been a long, busy and productive weekend here!

I ended up with a headache so I'm getting my daily page done very late...I should be in bed already lol. Why do Mondays have to come so fast??

As soon as I saw Sketchy Thursday's July GDT sketch, I knew I wanted to enter. I love the use of the strips of paper. The picture is of my niece and it just makes me laugh when I look at it. If I had the time and inclination, I would have used the Cricut vs. Thickers to make the title stand out a bit more. The dp is all from the Making Memories Sabrina collection.

TFL! Stop back tomorrow for a new Squigglefly challenge!

Willow and some Squigglefly news!

So if you stopped by last night for that Squigglefly sneak peek, sorry I didn't have anything up for you! I wasn't feeling good so I spent the night on the couch playing with digi stamps to print and playing FB games.

Guess what! The new stamps are up already and wow, are they cute! Squigglefly has a new artist and her name is Jackie Mathews! I will have a sample up tonight with one of the new cuties :)

This is a quick card I made a few nights ago...no sketch or challenges, I'm sure you all are shocked LOL!!

(if you click to picture to make it bigger, you can see the sparkle)

This neat tree is called Willow and is illustrated by Rich Davis. I'm sure it's not meant to be an orange tree, but I couldn't resist having sparkly oranges LOL!

More exciting news...the One-a-Day in May is back!

Flopsey has flowers for you!

At the beginning of the month (that seems so long ago lol), I saw THIS post on Triple the Scraps and have been saving it to try. Since the "Weekend Crew" theme this weekend is to use MFT Stamps, I pulled out my Flopsey Flowers since I'm thinking spring :)

Flowers are also the theme challenges at Flourishes Timeless Tuesdays (#55 - use flowers) and Jacksonbelle Embellishments (anything with flowers).

I cut a bunch of MM Chloe's Closet scraps and glued them to a card front size piece of cardstock and then cut out the panel with the Labels 8 nesties. I love how it came out and think I will be doing this again with many of my scraps. I colored the flowers with spica pens and popped up Flopsey with mini pop dots.

If you'd like to see what the rest of the Weekend Crew did, check out the links on my right sidebar!

ETA: Duh...forgot to mention that its an open challenge this week - just be sure to use a butterfly, fairy or angel on your creation and link it to Mr. Linky on the Flutter By Blog.

I'm a little teacup...

When I saw the new line of Teacup Girls at Stamping Bella, I just had to get a few.

This is Scarlett the Teacup Girl and I thought she was perfect to use with the CCEE sketch this week and the Divine Diva Inspiration Challenge :)

Here is the sketch from CCEE -

I started out with a square, but I tried using various border punches and they wouldn't cut through so I cut it down to a standard size card.

Here is the Divine Diva inspiration -

Check out this post HERE to see who else is participating in Danni's Stamping Bella weekend, there is inspiration all over the place :)

Card Supplies:
Stamp: Scarlett the Teacup Girl ~ Stamping Bella
Paper: Chloe's Closet ~ Making Memories
Ink: Memento, Stampin' Up Creamy Caramel
Copics: E00, E35, E37, YG17, YG25, Y21, YR07, B95
Others: Diamond stickles, nestabilities scalloped squares, Kaiser Yellow Droplets, glossy accents

I'll be back soon with another card, just waiting for it to dry so I can take a picture of it!

It's Release Day!!

It's Release Day over at Squigglefly!! Every Saturday, lots of fab images are being released!

Here is one of today's new releases, Snuggling Ducklings. The artist is Eline Pelinkhoff. I think they are sooooo cute!

I had a Hi Friend card in mind, but since I couldn't put my hands on that stamp, I used Hi There from a Hero Arts set. The dp is Chloe's Closet from Making Memories and worked out well for the L is for Layering challenge at ABC Challenges. I decided to keep it a flat card so it could be mailed easily.

This is the layout from Splitcoast -

Card Supplies:
Stamps: Snuggling Ducklings ~ Squigglefly, sentiment ~ Hero Arts
Paper: Chloe's Closet ~ Making Memories
Ink: Memento
Copics: B97, Y21, Y32, Y35, YR65
Accessories: SU corner rounder

For more fabulous creations using these new releases, be sure to check out the rest of the Squigglefly design team. Their links are on my left sidebar.

Thanks for visiting! I hope to be back later with more creations, but first I need to clean the house since we have company coming over tonight!

MFT with some bling

Still at it making cards for Splitcoast's WCMD challenges, so many great ones to try out!

This was created for MFT's challenge of black, pink, white and some bling. I immediately knew I wanted to use this paper by Making Memories, its called Sabrina. I'm not sure of the image name since I got it from someone else quite some time ago...I planned to use rhinestones but couldn't find them (surprise, surprise!!) but I did find these Kaiser pearls and thought they'd be perfect with this theme. Was a bit of a challenge to get them to stick in the right place since they are so tiny LOL!

I used a MFT sketch for the layout.

Mojo Monday #75

I made a lot of cards this weekend and I have to say this card is one of my favorites!

I created it for a few swaps. One was D is for...and instead of the typical dog or daisy that I would usually do, I used the deer from the Unity February KOTM. I just love this kit! Lots of variety to create with. I used a sponge dauber to give the deer some grass to stand on. The sketch is Mojo Monday #75, lots of layers! It was great fun putting together.

The Recipe:
Stamps: Unity Stamp Company ~ Feb KOTM & grab bag
Paper: GP, DCWV, PaperTrey Ink ~ Dark Chocolate, Kraft, Ripe Avocado
Ink: Rich Cocoa, Bamboo Leaves ~ Memento
Accessories: flowers & buttons ~ MM Paperie Mocha, sponge dauber, threading water punch ~ Fiskars

Thanks for looking!

Thinking of You with a Flutter By

I just love this card! It screams spring and sunshine to me, meanwhile its gray and icky out. Rain later and maybe snow this weekend. Spring get here soon please!

I started with the sketch for the card. Its Sketch #84 on Sketches by Tamara this week. Fun sketch and you can do many things with it.

Next up, I decided to make this a butterfly card for Danni's Flutter By Wednesday. The extra challenge this week was to make the card orange and yellow. These are not colors I use a whole lot so I had to dig for some paper. Luckily my new MM Chloe's Closet is nice and springy with these colors in it. The butterfly is Gem Stone Butterfly from Inkadinkadoo, its from their new releases.

And lastly, since this is a springy card, it qualifies for the Stamp Simply #76 Cabin Fever. I definitely have Cabin Fever. Hopefully spring will come soon and I'll start to see flutter bys while I'm out and about.

The Recipe:
Stamps: Gem Stone Butterfly ~ Inkadinkadoo, Say It in Style ~ CTMH
Paper: GP, Chloe's Closet ~ Making Memories
Ink: Tuxedo Black ~ Memento, Pumpkin Pie ~ Stampin Up
Accessories: Diamond Stickles ~ Ranger
