Don't faint...I crafted!

My crafty mojo has been zilch...zero...nada lately.  Lots of things swirling around in my head and it's really affected my craftiness. Trying to get myself out of this slump!

Today is my stepdad's birthday and I knew if I handed him a store bought card, he would have been really disappointed. So while dinner was cooking, I pulled out a card kit that I got from Taylored Expressions last year.  The paper is from the Imaginisce Birthday Bash line.

I cut the presents and banner from some of the dp included in the kit and layered it on another piece of dp and voila - a card is complete!

I am entering these challenges:
Birthday Sundaes #37 - Birthday card w/birthday wording/sentiment - my own challenge since I've been very absent :/
4 Crafty Chicks #66 - Birthday
Fab 'n' Funky Challenges #101 - Anything Goes
Cooking It Up with Katie #86 - Anything Goes

Cooking It Up with Katie #76

{Please scroll down for my Flutter By Wednesdays post}

Hello again!

I'm back with my Cooking It Up with Katie card and sadly my last challenge with the team. I thought I could take on the additional commitment but it has proven to be too much to keep up with.  I will still be playing along when I can though since I love the challenges.

The recipe this week is:
  • oval
  • orange
  • inside out (decorate the inside of your card!)
I used the very cool Papertrey Ink - Inside & Out birthday stamp set and Echo Park Apothecary Emporium paper to create a fun 'halloween-ish' birthday card. Can you tell I just love this May Arts ribbon - I bought a yard of it at the LSS and still have just a tad bit leftover. Must get more!

Here's the inside~

Cooking It Up with Katie #75

{Please scroll down for my Flutter By Wednesdays post}

Are you ready to Cook It up with Katie? Let's get to it!

This week's recipe is to include the following:

  • something girly
  • a bit of green
  • and a group of something (at least 3 or more of one thing)
Our sponsor this week is Sassy Studio Designs, check out the Cooking It Up with Katie blog to enter your creation and see what you can win if you play along with us this week!

Here is my card for this week's challenge~

The pretty flower embellishment is from Precocious Paper. It's something I've been hoarding for months LOL!  The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper's Spectacular Sayings set.  I used last week's Skipping Stones sketch for the layout, you can find the sketch {here}.

Have a great day!

Cooking It Up with Katie #74

It's the middle of the week already!

It's time for Cooking It Up with Katie!  This week our sponsor is Gingerloft Digi Images. Click {HERE} to play along with us and to check out what the other chefs made :)

We'd like to see you use this recipe on your creation:
  • Use some Purple
  • Tie a Bow
  • Finish it off with a sentiment
Here's what I created:

I used last week's sketch from The Paper Players, worked perfectly for my Riley image. I love the 'spooky' feel to my card.  The BG Eerie is some of my favorite Halloween paper EVER and I will be so sad when I use it all up! Good thing I bought an extra 6x6 pad lol! I tried to stamp the sentiment in Brilliance white ink and that didn't work out too well so I stamped over it in black and I love how some of the white shows up on the edges, I think it adds to the spookiness, he he.

Supplies Used:
  • Riley & Company - Witch on Broom
  • My Craft Spot - Happy Haunting
  • Basic Grey Eerie
  • Papertrey Ink Stampers Select White & Plum Pudding cardstocks
  • Memento Tuxedo Black ink
  • Marvy circle & scallop circle punches
  • The Twinery Charcoal twine

Cooking It Up with Katie #73

Today is Wednesday, it's time for Cooking It Up with Katie!

Our challenge this week includes the following recipe:
  • Sticker (I used Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers)
  • Bling (I swear the brads are sparkly!)
  • Pink
And we have two sponsors for you!  MelJens Designs (who provided us with some fun images to use) and Pizazz A Plenty.  Please check out the Cooking It Up with Katie blog to see all the sponsor details and DT samples and to enter your creation!

Here is my sample card using Book Girl.

I absolutely LOVE how she is colored - I really took my time and the results show.  I was beginning to think that I was losing my coloring abilities but it turns out that rushing is my problem and this power outage taught me to slow down so I can enjoy the process more.  I also think that when I get back into my room (I've been working in the dining room), I'm going to move my desk to a better angle so I can enjoy the natural light more (for the times I actually get to enjoy daylight).

I used this sketch from PaperWorks Co for my card:

Supply List~
Stamps: MelJens Designs Book Girl digi image
Paper: Papertrey Ink Sweet Blush cardstock, Echo Park Paper For the Record, image was printed on Copic Xpress Blend it cardstock
Other: copics, Making Memories brads, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type stickers
